Pioneer Plaza in 1910s
The image shows the Pioneer Plaza in the 1910s. One can see the White House Department Store right in front. It was opened in 1912 and designed by the architectural firm Trost and Trost. It housed a store below and the Hotel McCoy on the upper levels. Next to it, the Mills Building can be seen. Finished in 1911 also by Trost and Trost, it was one of the largest all-concrete buildings then constructed. San Jacinto Plaza is to the right of the image. Two streetcars are crossing. They were very popular and also connected El Paso with Mexico.
