"With the support of Sister Andrea, administrator of Hotel Dieu, and then Sister Teresa Piro, who had succeeded Andrea, the team of Aloysius, Bonds and Teresa launched a new nursing program to enlarge and improve the student body, upgrade the curriculum and hire a fully qualified faculty." In March 1898, in El Paso, TX the Daughters of Charity opened a School of Nursing which received full accreditation form the State of Texas in 1900. The four women in the initial class in January of 1902 were the first graduates of a three-year nurse training program in the state.
