El Paso Street in 1940s
The image shows El Paso Street, probably in the 1940s. The streetcar can be seen in the middle of El Paso Street, which connected El Paso and Juarez. To the right is the Hotel Paso del Norte, opened in 1912 and designed by Henry C. Trost. It was renamed Camino Real Hotel in 1993. To the right of the hotel is the Ellanay, a movie theater, which dates back to at least 1918. It was renamed Capri in the 1960s, but eventually torn down in the 1980s to make way for the Camino Real tower.
