Michael Tomor - Director of the El Paso Museum of Art -2014
Dr. Michael Tomor was the Director of the El Paso Museum of Art, a division of the Museum and Cultural Affairs Department of the City of El Paso. He received his BA, MA and Ph.D. in Art History from the Pennsylvania State University. His MA focus was on Byzantine painting with a minor in Roman and Early Christian Sculpture and his thesis focused on 12th Century Byzantine Illuminated Manuscripts. His Ph.D. was on 17th Century Baroque Painting, with minors in 19th Century French Painting and Sculpture and 20th Century Painting and Sculpture in the United States. His dissertation, Prophecy, Theology and Allegory: A Study of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in 17th Century Spanish Painting, focused on iconography and iconology of the Old Testament Patriarchs in Ovid’s Metamorphoses and in the New Testament. http://academics.utep.edu/Default.aspx?tabid=72681
