Preparedness Parade in 1916
In this 1916 photograph, the streets of downtown El Paso are lined with hundreds of onlookers. This particular type of parade is referred to as a Preparedness Parade. These parades were held prior to a country going to war or to remind a country's citizens that they were at war and they should be prepared for the worst, not to sit back and wait. Preparedness Parades were held across the United States in preparation for the entry into World War I.
