Emmett Mills was born in 1841 in Thorntown, Indiana. His brother, Anson Mills, was one of the founding members of El Paso and actually named the city El Paso. Emmett Mills was killed on July 21, 1861 in Arizona. His body is buried there. Image Description: Grainy black and white photograph shows Emmett Mills from his chest up. Mills is directly facing and looking at the camera with a stern expressionless face. He has long hair that reaches his ears and that appears to be combed backwards at the top. He wears a dark suit, a white shirt underneath and a large bow tie at his neck.
