Aviation Club
Aviation Club
The picture was probably taken on El Paso's first Municipal Airport, which was opened in 1928. It shows members of the Aviation Club in front of an airplane. The airport was situated west of Biggs Field and by 1930, activities at El Paso Municipal Airport consisted of private aircraft, charter aircraft, and a flying school. With the opening of the new airport, the El Paso International Airport in 1929, the importance of the Municipal Airport slowly decreased in the second half of the 1930s. The area is now a concrete batching plant & railhead for Jobe Concrete Products.
