Boating at Washington Park
Boating at Washington Park
The postcard shows the lake at Washington Park, probably in the 1900s. The city had purchased land from the El Paso County Fair Association in 1893. The parcel was named Washington Park. In 1901 the land was leased to the retired El Paso County sheriff James H. Boone for 20 years. He made major improvements to the park. The park was used for many leisure activities by the El Pasoans, such as swimming and boating.
