Kress Collection

In May of 2018 the El Paso Museum of Art worked with the Samuel H. Kress Foundation to renovate and reinterpret the museum’s key collection of European art. Kress Interpretive Fellow, Dr. Elizabeth Dwyer researched the collection and was instrumental in the curation of the Kress Gallery. The Kress Collection gifted to the City of El Paso by the Kress Foundation in 1959 served as the founding collection of the El Paso Museum of Art. Famous artists from the collection include: Botticelli, Canaletto, Van Dyck, Zurbarán, and Artemisia Gentileschi, among other Gothic, Baroque, and Renaissance masters.
