George A. Sanchez grandfather, Felipe Sanchez, moved his family from Glencoe, New Mexico in Lincoln County to San Elizario, Texas in 1917. the Sanchez Family came to New Mexico with the Juan de Onate colonists in 1598.

The Gurule family descends from Jacque Grolet, a french soldier with La Salle in 1685 Texas. As Santiago Gurule married Elena Gallegos and they came to New Mexico with the de Vargas colonists in 1695.
