In 1998 Stephanie Karr was inducted bu the El Paso Commission for Women into the Women's Hall of Fame. A speech pathologist, Dodson served as executive director of the Child Crisis Center. In 1988, she created the El Papolote Day Care Center for children in El Paso Texas with mental and physical disabilities. For many years she was a foster parent. She served on El Paso Del Norte Health Foundation.

Pat Mora wrote Chants, a book of poetry which speaks with a strong voice of the desert and the women who live in it. She attended St. Patrick's Cathedral School, graduated from Loretto Academy, and worked at UTEP during the presidency of Diana Natalicio. She has recieved many awards for her writing.

March is Women's History Month. This El Paso native is a well known bilingual author of poems and books.
