William Beaumont Army Medical Center - El Paso, Texas

This view of the west side can no longer be seen because a multi-story parking garage has been raised in the parking lot, blocking this angle. Image Description: This is a picture of the William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. It is on Fort Bliss land and is the main hospital for soldiers and veterans. The building was built in 1921, but has since been converted into the Veteran’s Affairs building. The new William Beaumont Army Medical Center is located on East Bliss.

Buffalo Soldier, Fort Bliss

A salute to black cavalry soldiers, the sculpture by Jimmie Bemont is titled "Buffalo Soldier: The Errand of Corporal Ross". It was based on a painting by Bob Snead of El Paso (in which the galloping soldier is being chased by Indians as he fires back at them). The statue is just past the Robert E. Lee Gate, where Airway Blvd meets Airport Road. Bob Snead obit El Paso Times, page 1, July 13, 2020

The memorial has 42 engraved granite markers and hundreds of engraved bricks, purchased by businesses and private individuals, to recognize the Buffalo Soldiers who are buried in Concordia Cemetery.
