ASARCO

Asarco was founded in 1899 as the American Smelting and Refining Company. In 1975 the name was changed to ASARCO. Due to pollution and and environmental issues, it was demolished on April 13, 2013.

Alligators in San Jacinto Plaza at Christmas

Celebrating the lighting of the Christmas tree on December 5, 2009. Alligators which was a huge part of the Plaza now have been removed as the Plaza is being renovated. Food, music and of course the parade at night.

Mount Cristo Rey

The statue is 40 feet (12 m) tall including a 9-foot (2.7 m) base and is composed of concrete, steel and Cordovan cream limestone which was quarried near Austin, Texas. The blocks were chosen by Soler and winched up the mountain. Soler carved it on-site with an air chisel. The head of the statue is elongated so that the figure appears of natural proportions when viewed from below. The statue is not technically a crucifix, as the palms of Christ face downward in a gesture of blessing. The statue was completed in 1939 and dedicated in 1940. Located in Sunland Park, New Mexico

Opened in 1906 and is currently operating under Amtrak's Texas Legal and Sunset Limited. Located in the heart of downtown.

Plaza Theatre

Plaza Theatre is a beautifully restored theatre which brings Broadway plays, concerts, graduations and individual performers in its beautiful atmosphere. Originally, it started as a vauedville place and eventually a movie theatre, It is a historic place started in 1930 but closed its doors through the years. After restoration, it reopened in March of 2006.
