2LT Austin E. Fryer was the son of William Fryer who played an important part in getting the Christian Brothers to come teach at Cathedral High School. LT Fryer was a pilot with the Army Air Force's 34th Bomber Group (Heavy) who was killed on December 31, 1944 and is buried at Ardennes Cemetery in Belgium.

Jose J. Ortiz served in the Army with the 44th INF DIV during WWII and was killed on April 21, 1945 in Gaildorf, Germany. He is buried at FT. Bliss National Cemetery.
