Montie E. Mathis Quinn - 1947 - El Paso, Texas

Class of 1947 from Douglass High School. Attended West Virginia State College, Texas Southern University, New Mexico State University and Skadron College of Business where she graduated. Employed as a Veteran's Counselor for two years, A.T. & S.F. Railroad Co. Operations Dept., taught in Agana, Guam two years. Married to Samuel S. Quinn and has three daughters, two sons and one granddaughter. Montle is a member of Loveland Baptist Church; Fontana, California.

Taught at Douglass High School 1944-1945 and is a former student of Douglass, having attended from 1938-1939. Received a 8. S. Degree with a major in Home Economics from Prairie View State University. Received a Masters of Arts Degree from San Francisco State Universi­ty. She is married to Mr. Elijah H. Burt and they reside in Perris, California.

Douglass High School - Amos Boyd - 1939

Attended Tillotson College, Austin, Texas, 1940-41. Lived and worked at Duncan Airfield, San Antonio, Texas where fighter planes are assembled. Moved to Berkley, California in 1942. Worked as a dining car waiter for Southern Pacific and later was associated with the Athens Athletic Club for 25 years. He is now director of convention services for the Oakland Convention and Visitors Bureau. Married to Vera Beatrice in 1953, has four children and three grandchildren.

B.S. Tillotson College, Austin, Texas, 1944; M.A. New Mexico Highlands University, 1952; M.A., New Mexico Highlands University, 1954; Post Graduate work toward doctorate, University of Utah, 1955; Studied at Newark State Teachers' College, Jersey City State College, Mon­mouth College, Pinebrook Educational Group. Experience in teaching includes positions in Marlin, TX, Cameron, TX, Vado, N.M., Fort Hood, TX. and she is currently a classroom teacher in the Middletown Township Public School System. Is a lecturer for church groups, women's organizations and youth groups. Memberships include many professional organizations, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and Guinn Chapel A.M.E. Church.

Douglass High School - Roscoe Roberts - 1939

Served in the military from 1942-1945. Moved from El Paso to Denver, Colorado in 1960 to accept a job with the General Services Administration, an agency with which he is still employed. Mr. Roberts is married and had three daughters and a son. His most enjoyable accomplishment is working in the church as a deacon and teacher for the deaconesses. He has served as Director of the B.T.U. in his church and in various other positions there. He is still a member of Sunset Lodge #76 F. & A.M. in El Paso, Texas. He currently resides in Denver, Colorado.

Attended Lincoln Junior College and Coles Voca­tional School in Kansas City, Missouri. Took various ex­tension courses while in Europe as an Army dependent. Graduated from Durham Business School. Employed at Fort Bliss, Texas as an accounting technician in the Finance and Accounting Office. Has twenty-five years of Federal Civil Service. She is the mother of one child, Lewellyn C. Cox who also attended Douglass School. "Tweet", as Mrs. Brown is called is a member of Friend­ship Baptist Church, past president of the Missionary Society, secretary of the Senior Choir and the Church Clerk.

Douglass High School - Edward W. Wright, M.D. - 1939

Graduated from Samuel Houston College in Austin, Texas magna cum laude in 1943. Graduated from Meharry Medical College in 1948. Internship and residency in Inter­nal Medicine at Kansas City General Hospital and Veterans Administration Hospital at Tuskegee, Ala. Serv­ed in the U.S. Army Medical Corps starting as a Captain in 1955. Started a practice of Internal Medicine in Oakland, California in 1957 which continues to the present. Married in 1945 to Obie L. McKinney and has four children, all grown: Harriet, the oldest; twins 25 years old, and a son liv­ing in Oakland, California. He has served in numerous leadership roles in the Oakland community.

Douglass High School - Mayme L. Taylor Witherspoon - 1939

Married Cornell Witherspoon in 1941. After her hus­band's military tour, she moved to Stockton, California. She was employed with Federal Civil Service at Sharpe Ar­my Depot in Lathrop, California where she worked for 27 years before her disability retirement. She was the mother of three daughters: Joan Lynette (deceased), Marsha Lynn and Leslie Inez. She is a member of Second Baptist Church in Stockton, California.

Douglass High School - Dupree Austin Jr. - 1940

Dupree Austin worked in various jobs in El Paso until 1942 when he started working at the Post Office as a postal clerk. He retired in 1974. He married Bertha Smith in 1944. He and his wife reside in El Paso, Texas.
